FEDERAL GRANTS Commissioner John C. Hazeltine of the Community Facilities Administration today approved a loan of $105,000 to the village of Kampsville, Calhoun County, Illinois, to assist in the construction of a water system to cost an estimated $120,000. The loan is contingent on the inability of the village to obtain private financing on reasonable terms. Kampsville, with a population of 500, is primarily an agricultural community serving banking and trade needs, and is located about 40 miles northwest of Alton. It has no public water system and its residents obtain water from privately-owned individual shallow wells. The project will include pumping equipment, treatment plant, a 75,000 gallon storage tank, meters and fire hydrants. A well has been drilled as a source of supply for the distribution system.
