GALESBURG RECEIVES ALL-AMERICA CITY AWARD
GALESBURG was one of eleven cities in the United States to be awarded the title of All-America City. The award ceremonies were held in GALESBURG, on Thursday evening, January 30th. Left to right in the photo are Frederick H. Mueller, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Domestic Affairs, Washington, D. C.; Earl Kribben, Vice-President of Marshall Field and Company, Chicago, representing the National Municipal League; MAYOR WILLIAM SMALL, GALESBURG, and William B. Arthur, Managing Editor of Look Magazine, New York City. Two other Illinois municipalities—OAK PARK and EUREKA—were "runners up" in the 1957 competition.
