ILLINOIS CLERKS ATTEND NATIONAL The National Institute of Municipal Clerks held at Toronto, Canada, on May 19th-22nd, was well represented by many Illinois clerks. Judged to be one of the best panels during" the Conference was the one held in the Canadian Court of the King Edward Shearton Hotel on the subject "Various Licenses; Vital Statistics, Duties of the Clerk." Chairman of this panel discussion was Mrs. Betty Oakes, City Clerk, Danville, with Vernon Lucas, City Clerk, Collinsville, serving as one of the panel members. O. Mack Wagner, City Clerk, Springfield, was on the Nominating Committee. James Warren, City Clerk, Mattoon, is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute and Victor G. Johnson, City Clerk of Geneva, is a member of the Advisory Committee. The 1959 Conference of the National Institute of Municipal Clerks will be held in Miami, Florida. Jos. L. Richardson, City Clerk of Atlanta, Georgia, was re-elected President.
