NEW MUNICIPAL BUILDING, SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS
Construction of the new Municipal Building of Springfield, Illinois, will start early in 1959. The building will be three stories in height, with full basement, completely air conditioned and will house the offices of the city government of Springfield. The design of this structure provides for function and flexibility, and is to be located near the immediate site of the old City Hall, keeping the present building for occupancy until the new one is completed. The approximate cost will be $1,750,000. The project is being done for the Public Building Commission of Springfield of which Albert Schlipf is Chairman under the new Public Building Commission Act. Associate Architects are L. Philip Trutter and M. D. Turley, Springfield, Illinois. Illinois Municipal Review 186 August, 1958
