The Clark County Park District with headquarters in Marshall, Illinois, received a Watershed Loan from the Farmers Home Administration recently in the amount of $239,000.00. The watershed loan funds will be used to help finance the purchase of land rights for the construction of an 860 acre lake for a combination flood control and recreation project. In addition to fishing and boating, the area around the lake will be developed for picnicking, camping, hiking and other types of outdoor recreation. Approximately 2,700 acres of land will be included in the recreational area. This project along with other flood control projects on the Mill Creek Watershed will benefit approximately 140 farms. To assist in financing the project, the Federal Government through the U.S.D.A. Soil Conservation Service, furnished cost sharing that amounts to approximately $954,200. The remainder of the needed funds are provided by local contributions and the Farmers Home Administration loan.
