MASTER'S PROGRAM FOR W.I.U. The Illinois Board of Higher Education has given final approval to Western Illinois University to begin offering a master's degree in recreation and park administration. The program has been set to begin tentatively in January of 1973. With the demands for increased leisure opportunities comes the need for higher qualified professionals to plan and direct meaningful leisure experiences. The master's program at Western is designed to help fulfill that demand both here in Illinois and across the nation. The new program will have a unique feature that will let the student develop a custom made curriculum to meet individual needs for future professional aspirations. Only half of the total 48-hour program has specific requirements. This does not mean that the student can take a hodge podge of courses, but he or she can sit down with a committee of the graduate faculty and together develop an individualized curriculum.
