BRIGHTBILL BANQUET Joseph Curtis, Commissioner of Recreation for Boston, Massachusetts, and president of APRS, will be the guest speaker for the Seventh Annual Charles K. Brightbill Banquet. Sponsored by the University of Illinois, Department of Recreation and Park Administration, the affair is dedicated to the fond memory of the former departmental chairman. The banquet serves as an opportunity for professionals, students, and others interested in the field of parks and recreation to join together in honoring three award recipients. Two Charles K. Brightbill Awards, one to an alumnus actively engaged in parks and recreation and one to an undergraduate student; and the Lt. John Bruce Capel Memorial Scholarship are annually presented at the banquet. The awards are given in recognition of outstanding scholarship, leadership, character and personality. The renowned University of Illinois Jazz Band conducted by the skillful baton of Howard Smith will provide entertainment for the occasion. A group in constant demand, we are indeed honored to enjoy their presence at this gathering. Jan Bergman, chairman of the student committee organizing this year's banquet, announced that the event will take place on March 15th, and will be held in the Illini Room of the Illini Union at 6:30 p.m. It was further announced that invitations will be sent to alumni and friends in early February. Tickets may be obtained from John W. Bailey, Department of Recreation and Park Administration, 104 Huff Gym, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign 61820 by written request.
