Mr. Johnson was with the Glencoe Park-Recreation District for eight and one half years and previously to that with the Mt. Prospect Park District for three years. He has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degree in Park and Recreation Administration from the University of Illinois. Mr. Johnson has been active in the Illinois Park and Recreation Society for the past twelve years and most recently served as the Cook County representative on the Board of Directors. ______________________________ POSITION OPEN MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR Salary $8,400 plus health insurance. Prezell, 24, previously was recreation supervisor for the Mundelein Park District and has also worked for the Oak Park Recreation Department. Prezell, who lives at Vacation Village, is a member of the Illinois Park Recreation Society. A native of Brookfield, Ill., Prezell is a graduate of Western Illinois University, Macomb, where he earned a B.S. in recreation and park administration. Prezell also has a masters degree in recreation-public administration from Indiana University, Bloomington. ______________________________ Allen Hyman has been appointed to the newly-created post of Special Facilities Manager, according to Donald J. Wirth, Director of Parks, Recreation and Forestry Departments of Evanston. In addition to continuing his role as supervisor of winter sports and lakefront director, Hyman has special responsibilities in connection with the construction and program projections for the new ice arena of the Robert Crown Community Center. Hyman has been with the Evanston Recreation Department since January 1970 filling a variety of leadership positions of increasing responsibility. ______________________________ Owen Thomas has been named supervisor of community centers and summer playgrounds with the Evanston Dept. Since August 1972 he has been the Department's Community Coordinator, a post with two major responsibilities, heading Foster Community Center and coordinating various Department activities with other community groups and agencies concerned with cultural, social and educational aspects of leisure-time needs. Craig Salmon, formerly supervisor of community centers and summer playgrounds, is the new sports supervisor. Other recent additions to the staff at the supervisory level include Raymond J. Nelson, director of the Haven Lighted School Center, a program instituted the fall of 1973, and Robert Rose, director of the Nichols Lighted School Center, now in its seventh year of operation. Robert A. Skeula is the new assistant director for Haven Lighted School Center. George Dotson who has been a recreation leader with the Evanston Recreation Department since 1969, first on a part-time basis and, later, full-time, has been appointed Director of Foster Community Center. Four new full-time leaders at Evanston community centers are: Robyn Mikusis, Chandler Leisure Center; Lawrence, Stringer and Linda Dotson, Foster Community Center; Hilary Schiffman, Boltwood Community Center. ______________________________
______________________________ Gerald M. Oakes has been appointed as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the Glencoe Park-Recreation District. Formerly the Superintendent of Recreation for the Waukegan Park District, Mr. Oakes holds a B.S. from Southern Illinois University and a M.S. from the University of Illinois. He previously served with the United States Air Force as Chief of Personnel Services at DaNang Air Base Vietnam and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, Arizona. He is a member of the I.P.R.S. Mr. Sable holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from Kansas State University. He brings to the District over three years of experience in greenhouse, nursery, and grounds maintenance from the George J. Ball Company. For the past two years he held the position of Assistant Personnel Manager with the same company. Before his employment with the Ball Company, he was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Mr. Sable is active in civic affairs and is currently the President of the Kiwanis Club of West Chicago-Winfield. ______________________________

He holds a B.S. degree in Recreation and Park Administration from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois (1969). He also has been awarded a Master of Science degree in Recreation Administration from George William's College in Downers Grove, Illinois (1973). He comes to Franklin Park from the Bensenville Park District, where he has served as Supt. of Recreation. He also has served previously as Director of Recreation for the Village of Riverside in Riverside, Illinois. ______________________________
Stephen was previously employed by the Wheaton Park District and the United States Army "Special Services" in Europe. He holds a B.A. in Recreational Administration and is currently working toward an M.A. in Business Administration. ______________________________ Thomas C. Weathers has been named Director of the Alton, Illinois Park and Recreation Department. He succeeds Robert Busse, who has resigned. Mr. Weathers, a native of Great Bend, Kansas, is a graduate of Doane College, Crete, Nebraska and also holds a graduate degree from George Williams College, Downers Grove, Illinois. A US Navy veteran, Weathers has some twelve years of experience in the recreation and park field. He comes to Alton from Nebraska City, Nebraska, National Center of Arbor Day, where he was Director of Parks and Recreation. His experience also includes work with the Boys Clubs of America, Chicago, Illinois; Youth Program Director—YMCA, Brighton, Massachusetts; Director of Recreation, York, Nebraska and Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, Lincoln, Nebraska.
