SOCIETY NOTES

By Kay Kastel

KAY KASTEL

The IPRS fiscal year is almost at a close. Although we shall have a modest balance at the end of this year, with the increased costs of operation and inflation, IPRS is in need of increased revenue for 1975.

To support this premise, the Executive Secretary was asked to prepare a detailed study of financial projects for 1975. A committee under the chairmanship of Jack White, President-elect, was formed to study the results and recommend action.

In the recent constitution mailing, it was noted that the IPRS Board would discuss a possible dues increase at their August 2nd meeting. After much discussion, the Board voted to raise dues a substantial amount so that every year the problem of increased revenue would not appear.

Effective November 1, 1974, the new dues structure for IPRS will be as follows: Executive—$50; Administrator—$40; Supervisor—$30; Leader/ Technician—$15; Student—$7.50. This is the first total dues increase since 1971. It is hoped that the Society will not have to review the new dues structure for several years.

Any professional paying dues as an Executive, Administrator, or Supervisor will receive a set of tickets to the new IPRS sponsored "Lecture and Technical Assistance Series."

This series will be a new concept of continuing education for the professional. It will consist of 3-5 lectures by well-known personalities in other disciplines, such as politics, humanities, business, and entertainment. It will also consist of 3-5 special workshops on areas where the professional needs technical assistance, such as personnel management, motivation, communications, revenue management, etc. No fee will be charged—it will be included with membership.

This past year has seen the most active and involved year that the Society has ever had. As we continue to increase our services, the cost of operation will continue to rise. We hope that all the professionals will continue to support their organization making it a viable tool for the profession.

IAPD and IPRS believe that the democratic process functions best through frank and open discussion. Material published in this magazine, therefore often presents divergent and controversial points of view which do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the two sponsoring organizations.
