A CENTER for University-State Relations and Community Service Programs has been established in the Governor's Action Office, Room 2000, 160 North LaSalle Street, Chicago, 60601, headed by William Grimshaw and Edwin Silverman. An advisory committee includes representatives from public and private universities, community colleges, secondary schools, state agencies, student organizations, the State Board of Education and the Board of Higher Education.
The staff is initially working in three areas: (1) consolidating information on the state's internship programs; (2) developing collaboration with Northwestern University's Research Management Program which seeks to improve relationships between state agencies and higher education institutions; and (3) developing local workshops on community service programs.
