RTA budget is valid
The high court upheld the validity of the
$177.7 million Regional Transportation
Authority's budget, even though it had been
approved after the required June 30 deadline. The decision came on August 26 in the
case, Goodman & Shackey v. Regional
Transportation Authority, and affirmed the
July 13 ruling of Chicago Circuit Court
Judge Raymond K. Berg. Berg had attempted to work out a compromise between
the conflicting interests of the suburban and
Chicago members of the RTA.

September 8. (See "Hewlett v. Thompson"
on p. 6 for further details.)
