LELAND O. KEW
Four staff changes were announced recently by the Peoria Park District. Leland O. Kew, of Raleigh, North Carolina, joined the staff of the Peoria Park District as Coordinator of Development in January. Kew worked for the Peoria Park District from 1954 to 1960 as landscape architect and assistant director of parks. For the past several years he has been engaged in private practice of landscape architecture in North Carolina.

While he was on the Peoria Park District staff, Kew designed the Glen Oak Zoo grounds and children's area, the clubhouse at Newman Golf Course and the picnic area of Grand View Drive Park. He also worked on the Lakeview Park development, including the ice rink and swimming pool. The park benches in use throughout the Park District were designed by Kew. He was responsible for planning and programming for the North Carolina Zoological Park, an area of 1,341 acres, developed for the nation's first state-owned natural habitat zoo; and the Northside Community Park in Norfolk, Virginia.

KERRY L. WILLEY
Kerry L. Willey is the new Supervisor of Special Facilities. He was a student with the Park District during his senior year at Western Illinois University. After graduation in 1972, he worked for several months in the maintenance department of the Park District and then became assistant superintendent of program services. He has been supervisor of sports activities since 1972.

RICK DORSEY
Rick Dorsey, also a graduate of Western Illinois University, advances to the position of supervisor of sports activities. Dorsey joined the staff of the Park District in 1974, serving as an assistant manager of Logan Ice Center during the winter and coordinator of tennis during the summer. He has been coordinating aquatics since 1977.

BRUCE A.
ZIMMERAN
Bruce A. Zimmerman is the new coordinator of aquatics for the Peoria Park District. He succeeds Rick Dorsey who became supervisor of sports in the recreation department last December. Zimmerman joined the recreation department staff in 1976 as assistant manager for Central Park Pool and head coach for the Peoria Parks Swim Club. During the summer of 1977 he managed Logan Pool and then became aquatics programmer for the department.

EVELYN HARNEY has recently been promoted to the position as Superintendent of Recreation for the Matteson Parks and Recreation Department. She first joined the department in 1977 as Recreation Supervisor. With this new position Evelyn will assume full responsibility as the Recreation Department head. Her responsibilities with the position include planning, implementation, administration and some budgeting of all recreation programs and events. Since her graduation with a B.S. from Illinois State University in 1977, Evelyn has experiences in the field i.e., Palos Heights Recreation Department and The Battle Creek Outdoor Education Center in Dowling, Michigan.

THOMAS S. SUHS has been recently appointed to the position of Director of Parks and Recreation of the Chicago Ridge Park District. Prior to his appointment, Suhs was Assistant Director of the River Forest Community Center.

He received his bachelor's degree in recreation from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He has also served in a variety of capacities with the Blue Island Park District and the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District.

JULIUS O. EVANS
Julius O Evans has been named Director of Foster Community Center for the Evanston Recreation Department. He will be in charge of a staff of four full time recreation leaders and several part-time leaders. He succeeds Deborah Carraway who was recently promoted to Supervisor of Community Centers and Supervised Summer Playgrounds.

Evans attended Loop College and Northeastern University (both in Chicago) and from the latter institution earned certificates in both adolescent development and group process. He has held a variety of youth-related positions including serving as housefather for eight boys with emotional problems at Lake Bluff Chicgao Home for Children. He also was on the staff of Chapin Hall for Children (Chicago) as a child care worker, teacher's aide, recreation worker and as coordinator of activities and evening supervisor.

EUGENE FORD
The Evanston Recreation Department has named Eugene Ford as Program Supervisor for Robert Crown Community Center. He succeeds Pat Fitzgerald who resigned to manage Nelson Center in Springfield.

Ford holds a master's degree from George Williams College in Urban Parks and Recreation Administration and a B.S. degree from Western Michigan University.

An All-American basketball player both in high school (Crane Tech in Chicago) and college, he later played professional basketball for three years, 1969-71. Ford's most immediate past position was Recreation Director for the Department of Children and Family Services, a State of Illinois agency in Chicago, where he developed and implemented a recreation program for visually handicapped adults and senior citizens. Earlier he taught physical education in Chicago on the elementary school level for five years.

Ford also spent several summers in the recreation field where he directed camps for both young and senior citizens and developed an All-Star sports program.

For the third consecutive year, Landscape Structures presented the top salesman award to NewToys Inc. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin for accomplishing top overall sales volume. In addition NewToys was named top sales volume in the Park Structures category.

A cash award and handsome brass plaque on a Redwood sculpture were presented to JACK GLEASON and BOB LIEN of NewToys Inc.

NewToys sells exclusively for Landscape Structures in the state of Illinois and northern Indiana.

JOSEPH L. DiPRIZIO was recently named Program Supervisor for the Oak Park Recreation Department. Joe's responsibilities include: booking and promoting musical and theatrical events on the Oak Park Village Mall; monitoring Village tennis facilities; managing Village rental properties; coordinating the Frank Lloyd Wright 10,000 meter run; and supervising the Recreation Department's Camp Acorn.

Joe is a graduate of Western Illinois University, majoring in administration and recreation and has worked for the Oak Park Recreation Department since 1975 as a recreation center director.

JAMES D. DOSS has been named Director of Community Education for the Oak Park Recreation Department. Jim will be responsible for planning and administering the activities of the Lighted Schoolhouse; co-ordinating the annual Frank Lloyd Wright 10,000 meter run; and managing the summer tennis and racquetball programs for adults and youths.

Jim is a graduate of George Williams College, majoring in administration and recreation, and has worked for the Oak Park Recreation Department since 1969 as an ice skating guard; gym supervisor; recreation center director and Lighted Schoolhouse supervisor.

JAMES A. COUGHLIN has been named Assistant Program Supervisor for the Oak Park Recreation Department. Jim's responsibilities include: issuing publicity and press releases for the Lighted Schoolhouse; assist in planning and administrating Lighted Schoolhouse activities; and handling promotional aspects for the Frank Lloyd Wright 10,000 meter run.

Jim attended Triton and Columbia Colleges, majoring in English and has worked for the Recreation Department since 1978.

ELIZABETH KILBRIDGE is the Director of the Stevenson Recreation Center for the Oak Park Recreation Department, effective October, 1978. Lili is a 1977 graduate of the University of Iowa and has worked for the Oak Park Recreation Department since 1977 as a center leader.

ANGELITA ROMAN is the new Director of the Fox Recreation Center for the Oak Park Recreation Department. Angie is a 1978 graduate of the University of Illinois at Circle Campus. She has worked for the Oak Park Recreation Department since 1976 as a center leader and instructor.

KEITH MILLS is the new Director of the Barrie Recreation Center for the Oak Park Recreation Department. Keith is a 1976 graduate of Augustana College and has worked for the Oak Park Recreation Department since 1978.

KATHLEEN MARONEY is the new Director of the Anderson Recreation Center for the Oak Park Recreation Department. Kathy is a 1976 graduate of Triton college, with an associate degree in Recreational Leadership and graduated in 1978 from Southern Illinois University with a B.S. in Parks and Communities.

Kathy did her summer internship for the Carbondale Park District and has worked for the Oak Park Recreation Department part-time since 1977.
