According to statistics from the Department of Public Aid, the number of unmarried women receiving Aid to Families with Dependent Children increased from 44,410 or 27.7 percent of total AFDC recipients in June 1972 to 83,307 or 46.1 percent in June 1979. . . . The comptroller's monthly report showed the general funds average daily available balance in November to be $503 million; the general funds end-of-month balance was $391 million; the combined funds end-of-month balance was $565 million. . . .
