Salary Survey Ready For Conference
Many thanks to those professionals who took the time to complete the 82 Salary Survey. We hope to have the printed results available at the Annual Conference. Our target is at least a 75% return and based on the number of current responses we expect to meet our goal. IPRA members will be able to purchase copies at the member rate. The fringe benefit portion of the survey will be compiled at a later date.
IPRA To Open Gift Shoppe
A new project — the GIFT SHOPPE — has been developed by the Fund Raising Committee. IPRA members' first exposure to the Shoppe will be during the Annual Conference at the associations' booth. The purpose of the project is threefold: (1) To make a small profit for IPRA; (2) To promote the leisure movement and the association; (3) To provide members with holiday gift suggestions for their staff. Lapel pins, jogging shorts, coffee mugs, and a few other items will be available. Just think of the possibilities — hundreds of joggers in the parks carrying the message of leisure or all recreation personnel greeted every morning by a friendly coffee mug saying "Leisure: A Good Investment."
Board Approves Move To National Professional Certification
In September, the Board approved the Admissions and Standards Committees' proposal to submit a revised certification plan to the National Certification Board who will be meeting at the NRPA Congress. If accepted, the changes will go before the IPRA membership in 1983.
We will do our best to educate the members as to the effect this will have on their current registration. The first in a series of informational sessions on "Certification and how it will affect you" will take place at the Annual Conference on Friday, November 19, 4:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. We hope you will take the time to become informed.
Annual Meeting Planned
While on the subject of the conference, to be held November 18-21 at the Hyatt Regency, O'Hare, Rosemont, we hope all of you will attend our major educational event of the year. Over 90 educational sessions are offered in the two day period. We have all kinds of special activities planned for the exhibit area which will host over 110 booths displaying a myriad of new services and equipment.
