DIANE MILLER, a participant in the 1982 U.S. Open for women golfers and an experienced golf professional, has been hired as Manager/ Head Golf Professional for the newly-acquired Renwood Country Club, Robert Rolek, Director of the Round Lake Area Park District in Round Lake Beach, has announced. Miller, 26, holds a B.S. in Leisure Studies from the University of Illinois, with minors in forestry and turfgrass management. She is the first woman to join the Illinois PGA and the first woman head golf professional in Illinois. A golf professional at private and municipal courses since college graduation, Miller was the low qualifier for the Chicago section of the U.S. Open at Sacramento, California. The Round Lake Area Park District, formed in 1974, covers six villages. WILLIAM R. McKINNEY has recently joined the faculty of the Department of Leisure Studies, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His primary responsibilities are with the undergraduate program in the areas of community recreation and personnel administration. Prior to this appointment, McKinney served for five years as Superintendent of Recreation for the Topeka Recreation Department, Topeka, Kansas. He has, in addition, served as Director of Therapeutic Recreation in Kankakee, Illinois and as Director of Capital Development for a private architectural firm. He received the 1978 A.P.R.S. Distinguished Professional Award and in 1977 was recognized as a Distinguished Fellow by the Kansas Recreation and Park Association. McKinney received his Ph.D. in 1982 and his M.S. in 1974 in park and recreation administration from the University of Illinois; and his B.S. in community and therapeutic recreation from Southern Illinois University in 1970. THERESA N. WESTOVER, has been appointed to the faculty of the Department of Leisure Studies, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Westover's primary responsibilities are with the undergraduate curriculum area of Outdoor Recreation Planning and Management. Dr. Westover has worked with the California State Parks and Recreation Department as a research project coordinator and with the Michigan Recreation and Parks Association as a consultant. Westover's Ph.D. work was completed at Michigan State University in geography in 1982. Her M.S. and B.S. were received from the University of California at Davis. Dr. Westover's research interests lie in the area of recreation behavior and environmental perception.
SEVERAL University of Illinois alumni were honored at the 17th Annual Charles K. Brightbill Banquet held April 14 at the U. of I. Shown (left to right) are: Sandra Klitzing, recipient of the Brightbill Award;
Marge McLaughlin, Capel Award; Tom Goodale, Alumni Award; Robin Hall, Special Alumni Award, and Dr. Morgan Powell, special guest. Dr. Powell is current president of the Illinois Association of Park Districts and Mr. Hall is immediate past president of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association.

Illinois Parks and Recreation 38 May/June 1983 takes shorthand at 180 w.p.m. and has word processing experience. Diana's recreational activities include: running, racquetball, golf and horseback riding. She graduated from South Fork Community High School and attended McCormac Junior College majoring in court reporting. Experienced in legal and medical terminology and legal research. THE VILLAGE of Oak Lawn, at its March 22 meeting, presented the Oak Lawn Park District with a Resolution welcoming the International Junior Wrestling Tournaments which will be competing in Oak Lawn August 10-13, 1983. This is the first time this prestigious Tournament will be held in the United States, and many foreign countries will be competing. "This should be an exciting time for our Village, and Bill Vail and Jim Craig of the Oak Lawn Park District International Wrestling Club are to be commended for bringing this world wide Tournament to Oak Lawn." Park Board President Donald V. Andersen stated.

JOHN S. GENSLER, Naperville, chats with Helen Weigle, chairperson of the Illinois Commission on Children, at a reception March 8 at the Governor's Mansion in Springfield commemorating the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Commission. More than 500 attended.
Gensler, a commissioner from the Naperville Park District and a member of the IAPD Board of Directors, is a member of the 31-member governing board of the Children's Commission. Naomi Hiett, Springfield, director of the Commission for 23 years, also was honored at the reception for having written a history of the Commission. The commission was established in 1953 by executive order of then Governor Adlai E. Stevenson.
