November 5-27 Chicago (Cook County)— 71st Annual Chrysanthemum Show. Lincoln and Garfield Park Conservatories. 17-18, 19 Golconda (Pope County) — Deer Festival. Courthouse Square. Country music, arts and crafts booths, pork barbeque, parade. 19-20 Lockport (Will County) — Christmas Crossroads 1983. Lockport East High School. Chicagoland's largest Christmas bazaar with more than 200 top clubs, artists, craftsmen. 25-27 Bishop Hill (Henry County) — Julmarknad Traditional Scandinavian Christmas market featuring Swedish foods, imports, crafts, demonstrations. Entertainment for children. 29 Bloomington (McLean County) — Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, Miller Park. Cross country races for all ages.
December 3-4, Petersburg (Menard County) — Christmas at New Salem, New Salem State Park. Re-enactment of 1830s Christmas includes costumed "villagers" performing a wide variety of pioneer crafts demonstrations. 3-4, 10-11, 17-18 Galena (Jo Daviess County) — "Country Christmas in Galena," historic Main Street and surrounding area. Tours of guest homes, antique shopping. 6 Paris (Edgar County) — Exhibit by Spinners and Weavers. Champaign/Urbana. Wearable art, decorations and much more. 8 Vandalia (Fayette County) — Christmas at the Statehouse, State Historic Site. Old Statehouse decorated for Christmas. Candlelight tour in evening. 10-11 Charleston (Coles County) — Civil War Christmas, Moore Home State Historic Site. Re-creation of an 1860 Christmas in rural home.
