State Stix In November the state's general funds end-of-month balance was $207,691 million, a drop of $146.788 million from October's. The average daily available balance during November was $325,735 million. The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in November held steady at 9.7 percent. The national unemployment rate was 7.0 percent. November also saw a decrease in the number of people in the state's civilian work force-including a drop of 72,000 in the number of people with jobs. There were 5.670 million people in the work force in November; 5.122 million were employed, and 548,000 were looking for work. Final September unemployment rates in the state's metropolitan areas were: Aurora-Elgin, 7.3 percent; Bloomington-Normal, 5.1 percent; Champaign-Urbana-Rantoul, 4.7 percent; Chicago, 8.4 percent; Davenport, Rock Island, Moline (Illinois sector), 12.0 percent; Decatur, 10.8 percent; Joliet, 7.9 percent; Kankakee, 11.0 percent; Lake County, 5.7 percent; Peoria, 10.5 percent; Rockford, 9.9 percent; Springfield, 6.3 percent; St. Louis (Illinois sector). 9.5 percent January 1986/Illinois Issues/27 |
