WORKSHOPS -
CLINICS AND INSTITUTES
Workshops Scheduled For Municipal Leaders The Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, in cooperation with six community colleges and Governors State University, will conduct seven workshops for municipalities during the month of July. Officials and administrative personnel of municipalities are invited to attend this second offering of the same workshops as were presented during February and March of this year. This Illinois Municipal Government Workshops series, primarily for small municipalities, features current information on federal and state grants and loans; local infrastructure project financing options; local revenue authority; and state requirements regarding such subjects as budgeting and the appropriation ordinance, filing procedures, the tax levy and Truth-In-Taxation provisions. Other topics to be included are how a community can inventory its infrastructure needs, plan its future infrastructure improvements, review its water rate charges and become a Certified City. These subjects also constituted the agenda presented at the first six workshops of this series. Take-home information will be given to attendees on the program topics and Department of Commerce and Community Affairs staff will be there to provide assistance. Mayors, village presidents and other municipal officials and their staff are encouraged to attend. No advanced registration is required, and there is no fee for attending. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., program at 9:00 a.m., and the event is finished by 3:00 p.m. The dates, co-sponsoring institutions, locations, and contacts are as follows.
