Mayor Richard Berkley, Kansas City, President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, has appointed Mayor Verne Hagstrom, Quincy, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic Development.

Mayor Hagstrom served the past two years as a member of the Community Development, Housing and Economic Development Committee. . . .

Ms. Marlene Williams, CMC/AAE, Village Clerk of Skokie, has been accepted into the IIMC Academy for Advanced Education of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. The Academy is the professional body of municipal clerks who have continued their high level of educational achievement beyond the attainment of the prestigious Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) Award. . . .

Village President Verna L. Clayton of Buffalo Grove has been named vice chairperson of the Transportation and Communications Policy Committee of the National League of Cities.

Clayton's appointment was announced by NLC President Pamela P. Plumb, councilor of Portland, Maine. The committee is one of NLC's five standing committees that develop policy positions on national issues involving municipal governments. Mayor Tom Volgy of Tucson, Arizona, will serve as committee chairman. . . .

Council member Beth Boosalis Davis of Evanston, has been named chairperson of a National League of Cities committee responsible for a wide range of health, community services and employment issues....

Mayor Neil Dillard, Carbondale, has been appointed to National League of Cities' Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Committee.

Mayor Joe W. Feelon, Maywood, was also appointed to this committee....

Alderman David D. Orr, Chicago, has been appointed to the Community and Economic Development Committee Council Member, Dorothy Sinclair, Peoria, was also appointed to this Committee. . . .
