Elected To International Post

Vaught Janet M. Vaught, Carbondale City Clerk, has been elected as Region 7 Director of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. In this post, Vaught will represent municipal clerks from Illinois, Missouri and Kansas for a three-year term on the IIMC Board of Directors. The election was held in late May at the annual IIMC Conference in Spokane, Washington; prior to the election, Vaught had received endorsement resolutions from the Municipal Clerks of Illinois, the Missouri City Clerk's and Finance Officers Association and the City Clerks and Municipal Finance Officers Association of Kansas.

Comprised of almost 9,000 members in the United States, Canada and ten foreign countries including England, the Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, Israel and Japan, IIMC is devoted to advancing the professionalism of the office of municipal clerk and providing its members with educational, research, reference and informational services.

Appointed Carbondale City Clerk in 1979, Vaught is presently serving as Immediate Past President of the Municipal Clerks of Illinois and had previously served in all other MCI offices. She is a Registered Municipal Clerk, Certified Municipal Clerk and a member of the IIMC Academy for Advanced Education. In Carbondale, she is on the Board of Directors of the Jackson County League of Women Voters and is Newsletter Editor for the Carbondale Business and Professional Women's Club. •
