The first Illinois Women in Government Conference was sponsored in 1984 by Illinois Senate
President Philip J. Rock in cooperation with Rutgers University's Center for the American Woman
and Politics and Sangamon State University. Since then, interest and participation has grown
and an organization of the same name has been established to further the following goals:
• to encourage women to seek elective and appointive office at all levels of government;
• to educate women about governmental issues and the political process; and
• to promote the participation of women in public affairs.
General Conference Information:
Conference fees: $60 (non-IWIG members) $50 (IWIG members) $40 (full-time students)
•Fee includes registration, packet and all meals and sessions, except for the annual
membership breakfast meeting for which a ticket must be purchased ($6.50).
