Deerfield Public Works/Park District Facilities
On Wednesday, July 20th, Village and Park District
officials broke ground on a new public works and park
district maintenance garage at 465 Elm Street, the same
location of their current operation. The $3.3 million
project will have common areas shared jointly by the
Village and Park District, as well as exclusive areas for
their individual use.
A construction contract was awarded in June to
Flodstrom Construction Company, Deerfield. Beling
Consultants, Inc., Moline, are the consultants for the
project.
In remarks made at the groundbreaking. Mayor
Bernard Forrest stated: "This project represents an excellent opportunity for two governments to work together in the best interests of the community."
Tax Increment Financing funds are being used to
fund the improvement. "Through TIF funding, there
are no direct taxes assessed the public for this project,"
Forrest commented.
Mayor Forrest also announced that, when completed, the building will be dedicated in memory of
Edmund Klasinski, a 29 year employee with the Village
and Director of the Public Works Department, who
died last April. •
