TREASURERS ASSOCIATION

The Illinois Municipal Treasurer's Association held their annual conference in Alton, June 23-25, 1991. Over seventy-five (75) Treasurers attended the two day affair which was highlighted by the attendance of State Treasurer Patrick Quinn and the keynote address of State Comptroller Dawn dark Netsch. Comptroller Netsch spoke about the budget strain that was being experienced at the State level and it's effect on the local governments. Treasurer Quinn spoke about the benefits of the Illinois Public Treasurers Investment Pool (IPTIP) and it's continued growth both in total dollars and expanded services to units of local government. Other topics and speakers included a legislative update by Larry Frang of the Illinois Municipal League (IML) and an overview of available management services from the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs (DCCA) by Stuart Thompson.

At the Installation and Awards Banquet outgoing IMTA President Bette Booth (Dolton) was presented a service award by Ed Volpe, President of the Municipal Treasurers Association of the United States and Canada (MTA US & C). Treasurers receiving Certification status were: Gail Valle (Granite City), Judy Madonia (Springfield), Mary Roe (Dolton), Jeanne Schacht (Mahomet), Barb Mizel (Oswego) and Ron Panning (Sleepy Hollow).
