Mayor Mullins Named To Leadership
Group Of U.S. Conference Of Mayors

Palatine Mayor Rita Mullins was elected to the Advisory Board of The U.S. Conference of Mayors at the organization's 60th Annual Conference in Houston.

Voting in the closing session of the Conference on Wednesday, the members — mayors of cities with populations of 30,000 or more — elected Mullins to the 23-member board which advises the organization's top officers on issues to be addressed, program and meeting content and other policy-related matters.

Mayor Mullins's name had been placed in nomination by the Conference's Nominating Committee, a group appointed by Boston Mayor Raymond Flynn, the Conference President. The Nominating Committee report was presented to the mayors attending the closing session of the six-day Annual Conference on Wednesday and was adopted by unanimous vote.

The Conference of Mayors, headquartered in Washington, D.C., is the official nonpartisan organization of the nation's principal cities — those with populations of 30,000 or more. In the U.S. today there are more than 1,000 cities of this size.
