MAYOR LEWIS APPOINTED
BOARD OF REVIEW CHAIRMAN

Mt. Vernon Mayor Rolland Lewis has been named Chairman of the Board of Review of the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

Lewis, a member of the SIMA Board of Directors, announced his appointment at the SIMA Board Meeting in April.

As DES Board of Review Chairman, Lewis will spend some time in his Chicago office, but will continue his duties as mayor of Mt. Vernon.

In the Board of Review position, he will be responsible for hearing and ruling on employment security appeals.

Lewis was appointed to the board by Illinois Governor James Edgar.

Nan G. Cobb, Village Clerk, Village of Montgomery, Illinois, has been awarded the designation of "Certified Municipal Clerk" (CMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) for achieving its high educational, experience, and service requirements.

Lester E. Cunningham died on March 24,1993. His terms of political office included two years as City Alderman (1947-1949); 18 years as Mayor of the City of Belvidere (1949-1967); and three terms as State Representative of the 33rd District (1967-1972). He also served as a Vice President of the Illinois Municipal League while Mayor . . .

The League was further saddened to learn of the death of John Fitzgerald, a six term Mayor of Burbank, John Bourg of Joliet who was a two term Mayor and George Nordstrom, Mayor of Lockport, (1969-1981). •
