DEADLINES FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Eligible units of local government such as cities, villages, townships and counties are encouraged by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs (DCCA) to submit applications for Community Development Assistance Program (CDAP) funding for projects involving economic development, public facilities and housing rehabilitation. CDAP, a federally funded grant program available to assist Illinois communities through local governments with financing for these projects, is targeted to assist low-and-moderate-income persons by creating job opportunities and improving the quality of their living environment. Municipalities must have a population of 50,000 or less and must not be located in an urban county that receives "entitlement" funds. Application deadlines for specific CDAP program components are: General Economic Development, as needed; Competitive Public Facilities Construction and Design Engineering, July 25, 1994; Competitive Housing Rehabilitation, October 3, 1994; Emergency Public Facilities Set-Aside, as needed; Removal of Architectural Barriers Program, July 5, 1994. To receive an application or learn more about the program contact Jean Thomas at DCCA, 217/782-6136. June 1994 / Illinois Municipal review / Page 23 |
