DESK . . .
The Illinois Municipal League was saddened to hear
of the death of Elmer Walton, former Mayor of Decatur. Mr. Walton served on the Decatur City Council
for 14 years prior to being elected Mayor in 1977. During his years on the council, Mr. Walton was active in
the Illinois Municipal League, serving as vice president in 1982. . .
The Municipal League was also saddened to learn of
the death of Arthur Bliss, Village Trustee of Evergreen
Park. Mr. Bliss was serving his fourth term as Trustee.
He also served on the Village Zoning Board of Appeals
and as a trustee of schools in Worth Township.
Mr. Bliss also served on the League's Legislative
Committee and was Sergeant-at-Arms for a number of
years.
Feldman Named to Chair
NLC Leadership Training Council
Alderman Gene Feldman of Evanston has been appointed chairperson of the National League of Cities'
(NLC) Leadership Training Council, the steering
group that oversees the design and delivery of programs sponsored through NLC's Leadership Training
Institute.
The Leadership Training Council is made up of
municipal leaders from across the United States who
have demonstrated strong commitment to effective local leadership.
Feldman is currently in his third term on the Evanston City Council and has been active in policy and
leadership development activities within NLC for the
past eight years.
The Leadership Training Council will meet this
month in Washington, D.C, to develop a work plan for
1995 and years following.
