Dear Municipal Official:

Running City Hall has never been an easy task. In our rapidly changing world that responsibility becomes even more difficult. For the recently elected official, the challenge of meeting citizens' demands, learning new laws and regulations, planning for the future and handling day-to-day responsibilities can appear to be overwhelming.

With these thoughts in mind, the Illinois Municipal League will conduct the 1995 Newly Elected Officials Conference at the following locations:

The conference is designed to provide newly elected officials with the latest information regarding the fundamental procedures of city and village government. While the conference is designed primarily for new officials, it can serve as a refresher course for veteran officials. Both sessions will present the same program allowing you to choose the date and location most convenient to you.

Please complete and return the Advance Registration Form, along with your payment, to the League Office as soon as possible.

Room reservations should be made, using the Room Reservation form, as soon as possible to assure your lodging. Room reservations will be honored only for those individuals registered for the conference. Please pay special attention that your Conference Registration and Room Reservation are for the same location. Mail the Room Reservation form directly to the hotel.

Attendance at this conference will provide new officials with invaluable insight and background into municipal government that would otherwise be obtainable only through much time and effort.

First held in 1961, the Newly Elected Officials Conference has since been repeated every two years, following the spring municipal elections. As a source of information and as an introduction to municipal government the Conference is invaluable to newly elected officials.

An Advance Conference Registration Form is enclosed along with a Room Reservation Form for those requiring lodging. Registration cards and badges are prepared in advance and are to be picked up by registrants at the Conference Registration Desk.

Registration will open at 8:30 A.M., Friday and Saturday mornings. THE REGISTRATION DESK WILL CLOSE AT 5:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY EVENING AND AT 10:00 A.M. ON SATURDAY MORNING. ADVANCE REGISTRATIONS MUST BE PICKED UP BEFORE THE CLOSING HOURS. THE FIRST SESSION OF THE CONFERENCE WILL BEGIN AT 10:00 A.M.. FRIDAY.

Use the Advance Registration form in making your advance registration. If additional registrations are required, copy the form or list in the same manner on a separate sheet of paper. THE FORM MUST BE RETURNED TO THE ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE, PO BOX 3387, SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS 62708 TOGETHER WITH YOUR CHECK. A confirmation will be sent for each individual registered. This confirmation must be presented at the Conference Registration Desk when picking up your registration materials.

SINCE GUARANTEES ARE BASED ON CONFERENCE REGISTRATIONS, REQUESTS FOR REFUNDS MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO 12:00 NOON ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7, 1995 FOR THE ROSEMONT CONFERENCE AND WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14,1995 FOR THE SPRINGFIELD CONFERENCE.

NO REFUNDS WILL BE ALLOWED FOR REQUESTS RECEIVED AFTER THESE DATES. NO CASH REFUNDS WILL BE MADE AT THE CONFERENCE.

The registration fee for officials is $85.00 for Rosemont or $80.00 for Springfield. The package registration includes the Luncheon on Friday; Reception and Dinner on Friday evening; Breakfast on Saturday; conference materials, coffee break and admittance to all sessions of the Conference. Your spouse may attend for an additional fee of $70.00 for Rosemont or $65.00 for Springfield. No special programs for spouses will be provided.

ADVANCE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE LEAGUE OFFICE UNTIL TUESDAY, JUNE 6, 1995 FOR THE ROSEMONT CONFERENCE AND TUESDAY, JUNE 13,1995 FOR THE SPRINGFIELD CONFERENCE.

If you will require lodging, make sure to fill out the enclosed ROOM RESERVATION FORM and send it directly to the hotel at the conference location you will be attending.

Room reservation requests will be honored only for those individuals registered for the Conference. Because of problems quite often encountered in attempting to obtain lodging at a late date, it is urged that you make your room reservations as soon as possible.

You will receive your room reservation confirmation directly from the hotel.
