Letters to the editor Dear Jon: It is exciting to see my article appear as the lead article in Illinois Heritage, but it would have been even better if I had seen my byline. I wish there had been at least one picture of the art in a post office since that is my special area, but I am still pleased with the article. One correction that should be noted in the next issue is that Peterpaul Ott did the wood sculptures for Piano and the aluminum one for Kedzie Grace in Chicago. Edouard Chassaing did the sculptures for Kankakee.
Mary Emma The editor responds: As much as we try to produce our magazine error-free, mistakes and omissions sometimes get past all the proof readers; for that I apologize. I too was excited to read your article and see the photographs. When I was a student at Lane Technical High School, I had heard rumors of a Native American mural on the auditorium fire wall. The picture of the beautiful restoration reminded me of the many murals I saw at Lane, Kedzie Grace Post Office, and the old Hild Regional Public Library. HK Dear Jon: Just a note to say I think Illinois Heritage looks like a quality product. I don't begin to understand the ins and outs of various squabbles in Springfield, and I regret them, but you are producing a quality product.
Paul Simon, Director
The editor responds: Thanks to Mr. Simon for his kind words for Illinois Heritage. The staff and I will try and continue to meet the high expectations of our membership. However, IH can only be as good as the articles contributed. We are excited by the quality and variety of the submissions we get and look forward to producing many fine issues.
