Picture This Do you like to record your outdoor adventures on film? Have you always dreamed of having a photo published? If so, you'll be pleased to learn OutdoorIllinois magazine is sponsoring its first-ever photo contest. Entries are open to all readers of the magazine except DNR employees and members of their immediate households. Winning photos will be published in the February 200] issue. The grand prize package will go to the entry judged "Best of Show." It includes a winter weekend stay at Pere Marquette State Park Lodge and the Illinois Conservation Foundation's custom-framed, limited edition print, "Winter Refuge" by John Eberhardt. First- and second-place winners in the other categories will receive three-year and two-year subscriptions, respectively, to Outdoorlllinois and an opportunity to have their winning photos published in the February issue.

Contest guidelines: All entries must have been photographed in Illinois. Photos of captive and domestic species will not be considered. Entries are limited to color slides and mounted 8x10 color prints. The photographer must be willing to provide the original slide or negative for winning print entries. There is no limit to the number of photos that may be entered.
Labeling: All print entries must be labeled with the following information:
Deadline: The deadline for entering is Nov. 1, 2000, at 5 p.m. Entries received after this time will be returned to the entrant. Send all entries to: Photo Contest, OutdoorIllinois, 524 S. Second St., Springfield, Ill. 62701-1787.
Return of prints: In order for a to be returned, the entry must be accompanied by a self-addressed return envelope with sufficient postage. Winning entries will not be returned until after winners are published in the February 2001 issue. Notification will be sent by mail after the judging is complete. Judges: All entries will be judged by a panel of photo experts, including OutdoorIlliinois' chief photographer. Winning entries: By virtue of their entry, contestants agree that Outdoorlllinois may publish their photographs for promotion of the magazine. Winning photographs may be used in future magazine promotions, including the Department of Natural Resources' web site. A photo credit will be given. May 2000 19 |
