Illinois Issues
Statehouse bureau chief, Illinois Issues magazine, a monthly university-based magazine
devoted to in-depth coverage of Illinois politics
and public affairs. Directs Statehouse bureau in
Springfield, Ill. Monitors all branches of state
government and writes articles and a column for
each issue. Some editing involved. Requires
bachelor's degree in journalism, public affairs
reporting, political science or related field (master's preferred); two years' experience writing
and editing for a magazine, a newspaper or a
wire service; experience in government reporting
(Illinois preferred); experience in composing and
editing on a computer; and familiarity with the
Internet and Web sites. Starting salary, $32,500,
depending upon qualifications and experience.
Submit cover letter, resume, at least five published clippings, including in-depth articles, and
three letters of reference. Screening of applicants begins October 23, but the pool remains
open until the position is filled. Reference letters
may be submitted separately.
