ACCESSIBILITY

Parking: Parking at the Hyatt Regency Chicago is accessible for people with disabilities. Elevators provide access to the hotel from the lower garage.
Restrooms: All restrooms are accessible except the third floor restroom in the West Tower.
Meeting Rooms: All meeting rooms are accessible except the Buckingham room.
Restaurants: All restaurants are accessible.
Sleeping Rooms: The Hyatt Regency provides 20 accessible rooms located on lower floors for easy access from the elevators. These floors have been designed for individuals with special needs.

ADMISSION

Admission to the exhibit hall, except on Thursday evening, educational and CEU workshop sessions is by badge only. A security guard will be stationed at the entrance of the exhibit hall and meeting rooms. Delegates should wear their name badges at all times. For more information on exhibits, see pages 56-59.

AGENCY SHOWCASE

Location: Columbus Hall
Visit the showcase to see the top brochures, logos, and mixture of marketing ideas from agencies throughout Illinois. Departments and districts both large and small will benefit.

ALL CONFERENCE LUNCHEON AND AWARDS SHOW

This year the IAPD/IPRA delegation will be introduced to an all-new awards show. The "full-package" delegate receives a ticket for this event. Sit back, enjoy and honor the leaders and volunteers in the parks and recreation field.

ALL SEASON'S CAFE

The All Season's Cafe restaurant will be closed due to renovations. The Cafe has been relocated to the Plaza Ballroom Meeting Space located in the East Tower/Green Level.

CEU and EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

HOW DO I KNOW IF A SESSION WILL BENEFIT ME?

Each session is numbered. The numbering system indicates whether the session is sponsored by the IAPD or the IPRA. Sessions numbered 200 through 1099 are sponsored by different sections of the IPRA. The following is the legend for the numbering system:

WHAT'S A CPRP?

CPRP stands for Certified Park and Recreation Professional, APRP stands for Associate Park and Recreation Professional, PPRP stands for Provisional Park and Recreation Professional and CTRS stands for Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. CPRP, APRP, PPRP or CTRS status is bestowed upon park and recreation professionals who can demonstrate through education, experience and current practice that they meet and exhibit certain predetermined qualifications established by the NRPA National Certification Board. If you are interested in the certification program, contact IPRA at (630) 752-0141.

DO I NEED CEUs?

CEUs are offered for several conference workshops. CEU stands for Continuing Education Unit. The CEU is a form of measurement to record time spent furthering one's education. Attainment of CEUs is a requirement for many certification programs, including the APRP, CPRP, and PPRP programs in the recreation profession. If you are not certified in some manner, CEUs are not necessary as they will not be recorded or tracked by any organization.

CONFERENCE HEADQUARTERS

Location: Grand Ballroom Foyer, East Tower/Gold Level Conference Headquarters is the general information center for all conference activities. Headquarters adjacent the Registration Desk; all session chairpersons and hosts should check in at this area. Thursday night is an excellent opportunity for board members, staff and guests to visit the exhibit hall, as it is the only time a badge is not needed for admittance. You don't want to miss the closing event at Dave & Buster's on Saturday night from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Delegates who have registered for the full package receive one adult ticket that includes hosted beer and wine, reception hors d'oeuvres, gaming card with tokens and entertainment. Delegates can purchase extra tickets or children's tickets for the event at the conference registration desk. Shuttle service will be available at 6:45 p.m. to Dave & Buster's. Delegates will load on the busses on Wacker Drive facing East in front of the East Tower (in front of the Crystal Ballroom). Return service from Dave & Buster's to the Hyatt Regency Chicago will begin at 8:30 p.m.

MESSAGE BOARD
A special message board will be located near the conference headquarters. Individuals outside the hotel may call 312/565-4220 to place a message on the board.

PARKING
Delegates who are registered guests at the Hyatt Regency Chicago will receive a discounted parking rate of 50 percent off the current price at the Hyatt parking garage. No in/out privileges will be allowed. Delegates not staying at the hotel can park at the Illinois Center at the current standard parking rate at the time of the conference (no in/out privileges). When this is filled, delegates can park in any of the downtown garages at regular rates. All delegates are encouraged to take public transportation. Because the Hyatt is located in the Illinois Center, many bus routes are available, and it is just a short cab ride from the train stations. More details will be sent to registered delegates.

POLICY ON CHILDREN
To preserve the professional business environment and ensure a quality educational atmosphere at the IAPD/IPRA Conference, no one under the age of 18 will be allowed in the conference exhibit hall, socials or educational sessions unless the person is a speaker or a registered student in a university-park and recreation curriculum. The 2005 Saturday evening closing event at Dave & Buster's is open to families and children. Tickets for the Dave & Buster's will be on sale at the conference registration desk.

Registration at Conference
The Conference Registration Desk at the Hyatt Regency will be open during the following hours:

Pre-registration
The pre-registration area for delegates, who have registered prior to the conference, is located on the left side of the registration desk.

Badges
All delegates registered by January 7, 2005 will receive a special computerized badge. Delegates may pick-up their name badges at the conference registration area.

Daily At-the-Door Registration
You may register during the conference at the registration desk. Please complete a form before going to the daily registration window. These forms will be available on tables located in front of the main registration desk.

Lost Badges/Tickets
1. Lost tickets for meal functions must be repurchased.
2. Lost badges are $5 each.

SILENT AUCTION

Location: Exhibit Hall, Riverside Center/Purple Level The Illinois Park and Recreation Foundation, in conjunction with the IPRA College and University Relations Committee, once again will conduct the silent auction in the exhibit hall at booth #923, 925, 927 and 929 during the conference. Conference delegates will have the opportunity to bid on such items as weekend get-a-ways, tickets to sporting events and golf packages. The auction is an easy way to purchase valuable services and products for yourself and your agency. Proceeds from the auction will support student scholarships in Illinois.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED

The Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) have instituted a satisfaction guaranteed policy for the Thursday pre-conference workshops. IAPD and IPRA make every effort to ensure quality programs for participants. However, if a participant is not fully satisfied with the content of the workshop, he or she may request and receive a 100% refund of the workshop fee. A participant who wishes to request a refund for a pre-conference workshop must do so no later than the end of the workshop in question. Forms will be available at the conference information center/headquarters. Any accreditation or CEUs offered will be forfeited when a refund is made. Refunds will only be made payable to the originator of the check for the workshop registration. Look for the satisfaction guarantee symbols next to these workshops.

SPOUSE/GUEST PROGRAM REGISTRATION

All spouses and guests must register in order to participate in the conference, visit the exhibit hall and attend special programs. The $65 registration fee includes a name badge for admittance to exhibits, educational sessions, CEU workshops on Friday and Saturday and the opening general session. Spouses/guests must have no affiliation or be employed by a park and recreation agency. Tickets to the Exhibit Hall Grand Opening Party, the All Conference Luncheon and Awards Show and the closing event at Dave & Buster's will be available for purchase at the main registration desk. Museums In the Park has generously donated passes to five of Chicago's most popular museums. Passes to the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, John G. Shedd Aquarium, The Field Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Science and Industry will be available at the registration desk for spouses/guests only. These passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A big thank you to Museums In the Park for providing an opportunity for our guests to enjoy these lakefront gems!

TABLE RESERVATION SYSTEM FOR AWARDS LUNCHEON

To reserve a table for your agency to include staff, commissioners, and guests:
You should have completed the table reservation section that was included on the advanced registration form in the pre-conference brochure. The table reservation fee is $40.00 and is nonrefundable. The person who is designated as the table contact/coordinator will receive, as part of his/her conference confirmation, written instructions concerning the table registration process. Each contact/coordinator will be assigned a time to report to the table registration booth adjacent to the conference headquarters in the East Tower/Gold Level, Appointments at the table reservation booth will be scheduled in the order that the advanced registration form was received from the table contact/coordinator. If you did not pre-register for a reserved table, please stop by the reservation booth on Friday, January 28 between 9:00 a.m. 9:30 a.m. to register. Fee for on-site registration to reserve a table is $60.00 payable to IAPD by check only.

To reserve a table for your legislator and your agency:
If your legislator RSVPs to your agency that they will be in attendance at the awards luncheon, please contact Mike Fugiel at the Lombard Park District at 630/953-6110 so that we can ensure that your board/staff/guests will be sitting at a reserved table with your legislator. All tables will be of 12 seats, please make sure you have 12 guests assigned to your table.
