Members of the National Recreation Association of Japan attended the annual National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Congress in Indianapolis in September. Jessen's visit was a follow up to that. "We have a great exchange program; they are able to send professionals to our national congress, and we do the same. It is a great way to share ideas, develop international partnerships and form new friendships," said Jessen. Before leaving, Jessen collected a variety of gifts from the Village of Addison, the Addison Library, the Addison Park District and the IAPD as a way to showcase the work of those agencies. Jessen has been an active member of IAPD and NRPA for more than 25 years.
