Every season is ripe for a festival! The Northbrook Park District's
"2000 Fest: A Multicultural Block Party" debuted last June and gave
community members the opportunity to showcase their cultures in
costume, art, food, music and customs. On the cover, the Korean
Saturday School performs traditional flower and fan dances and two
costumed rovers represent their native countries: Roy Erik Swenson
for Sweden and Linda Sargon for Assyria. The colorful scarecrow is
one of more than 100 whimsical creations on display at the
St. Charles Park District's Scarecrow Festival, a nationally known
event celebrating its 15th anniversary this October 13-15.
