You can hardly go anywhere these days without seeing a "www" this or "dot-corn" that, but finding exactly what you need online often can be a tiresome process. Sometimes you have to navigate through numerous sites before you find what you're looking for. And once you get there, who knows if the information is reliable or even true? Anyone can post a webpage and flaunt information that, unbeknownst to you, could be inaccurate and misleading.

While we can't solve that problem, we can encourage you to bookmark http://dnr.state.il.us if you are looking for information about Illinois' outdoor resources that is accurate, up-to-date and interesting.

The Department of Natural Resources has been online since 1995, and we've recently updated our site, added new and unique links, and grown considerably since our arrival to the world wide web. Our site contains too much information to list here, including a plethora of information concerning Illinois state parks and conservation areas, DNR offices, Conservation 2000, Illinois Eco-Watch Network, state legislation, our gift shop, hunting and fishing applications, upcoming events and also the OutdoorIllinois homepage.

Need some facts and figures about Illinois' natural resources? Surf our site to find anything you're looking for in the area of statewide conservation. Our announcements section alone has 23 links to various outdoor resources. Locate the nearest hunter safety course, plan a trip across the state or learn about outdoor opportunities our department offers disabled men and women. Also on this link is a calendar of events and information on disease prevention associated with infectious critters like the deer tick.

Need to register your boat or snowmobile? Do so online, and while you're at it, buy a hunting or fishing license. Watch for news postings containing information on topics such as Illinois ENTICE, the Grand Illinois Trail and other news bits that will keep you up-to-speed on most department projects. There's an archives section to search past stories from our department files.

A site overview and DNR search engine make this a quick, simple, searchable website that will give you what you need. We can also help you plan a trip, find the best sporting locations or download some photos of Illinois wildlife. There's also an added bonus. Our links to the state of Illinois Website and the Governor's page ensure a smooth search for anything that is related to Illinois.

As I previously noted, there's no way to include everything our site offers, so head online and delve into the Illinois outdoors while sitting at your computer. If you've got a few minutes, we can deliver all your outdoor Illinois information needs.
