On the cover is a collage, created by Goss Graphic Design, using old photo postcards from the gift book Greetings from Illinois Parks: A Postcard History of Park Districts and Forest Preserves by William A. Smith. The book was published this January by the Illinois Association of Park Districts to help commemorate the association's 75th anniversary. It features more than 90 postcard views from 53 park districts and forest preserves, circa 1906 to 1950. The cards tell the story of a simpler time, when people communicated via postcards, not e-mail and parks featured "pleasure drives" for family outings in their novel Model T's.
