To play well on this 9,000-square-foot green requires some local
knowledge or a careful eye, says D.W. Davis, director of golf for the
Rend Lake Conservancy District. About #18, Davis says: "It's 45 steps
from the front to the back of the green. There are a lot of bunkers, a
fairway and two green-side bunkers that come into play." The
course, considered a hidden Illinois treasure, is reminiscent of a park
with large trees and mature timber. The hole is one of 18 signatures
